Fifty Five.

The fridge was bare, as was the larder. It only reflected the emptiness that her absence had caused.

She took everything they had; he was the fool for believing her when she said, “until death do us part”.

But more than anything else, he missed the pitter-patter of tiny feet echoing in the hallways.

What's life without a little drama? Even if it is melodrama...

Allow me to remind you of your comment on 08/07/2006 at 04:06:43 PM:

"BB: Are we really going to make this a 55-rally? Try your own 55 next week, okay?"

See! Men can listen...

To the above anonymous:
I do believe nobody's forcing you to read this. So guess who's the fuckwit now. And as for growing up, why not leave a name or weblink so we have proof of your non-loser status. Aside from being a coward, you need to:
Get. A. Life.
Stop living vicariously through other people's spaces.

Gawker, coffee? =)

Anon: Whatever dude, if it rocks your boat...

Anonymous said...

If you are insulting random people YOU need one!
You have a life? Prove it. Go away and get back to it.

Dilettante said...

Anon: Can't hurt to leave a name. Or stop reading, no one's forcing you to come back here and call anyone names.

Gawker: :-)

This is your free speech policy at work. Well, just goes to show.
Everyone's free to be a moron.
Just as they are free to use expletives for lack of a vocabulary.

And I do believe BB's boat is rocked.
=)

Chamique: Clearly, the comments section provide as much entertainment as the blog itself. Not quite what we expected when this blog was started but we'll take it anyway.

Cham: My boat, my world. All of it.

Dilettante: No such thing as a bad reader is there? More! More!

Is this blog like some sort of circel jerk?

blr bytes said...

Dilettant: Also no such thing as a bad comment, or so it would seem!

Anonymous said...

Why're you so curious anonymous? You feeling bad that you aren't in the circle? lol

Anonymous said...

this is not the same anon, but i really admire this entity on this blog's comments. I have a feeling that your blog has become one of those stress buster things so that people can pass by, spew something, feel cleansed and move on. So the anon dude/ dudette is not one person but a wicked set that does it in turn.

Nice!

But still it looks like a bunch of goody - 2- shoes fighting against a dirty slimeball.

your ananymous number 3? and your talking to yourself?

Anonymous said...

The name's gawker. Don't you forget it. Anonymous? or is it anonymous? Atleast I have an identity. And a life. What's your problem anyway? Still feeling left out of the 'loop'? Or is it like your other anonymous friend suggested? That the first blog you came across was the stressbuster you needed?
May I suggest something since your life isn't all that exciting because you keep coming back here to spew your meaningless insults? Go get laid, loser. We can all see it's been a while.

blr bytes said...

With all of this insane commenting, I'm not getting much work done today...

Anonymous (-es), feel welcome to drop by and spew to your hearts content.

To blatantly rip from Aleph:

" ... but as you know I will be achieving nirvana in this birth, so to balance the cosmic scales, you would have
to have pitchfork up your rear."

gawekr, why dont you give us a link to your web and prove youre man?

Anonymous said...

All anonymouses need to get laid!!!

Me included!

Anonymous said...

Who said I was a man?
;-)

I'll trade my link for yours, anonymous. Whichever one shows up first. But it'll take some time before you grow some BALLS!
I'll wait. Also, try getting that life I was referring to before you blog. It usually helps to have something interesting to say for people to want to come by and visit.

Anonymous said...

Good riddance! Took a while, but it was worth it. Seeing your sorry anonymous ass leave.

Anonymous said...

Thirty bloody comments and barring two, the first and the third, none were about the post. =(

Anon above: What work? I've been stalking this post all day!

Maybe I shouldn't have comments on the 55 words posts...

Anonymous said...

Ok since BB wanted a comment on the post, here goes:

Wishy-washy, wimpy, ooh-i-am-an-artiste stuff.

"The idea for the friday 55 is simply awesome. But why does each one of the posts have to be drenched in attempted heart wrenching imagery, loneliness, vacant meaning and three fourth of the post in the past tense. Looking at your other posts, i am sure you guys can do a much better job."

rant in quotes is my Friday 55. Ha!

blr bytes said...

Pretender: Critical feedback is so much better. And a darn sight better than what we've gotten thus far. Thanks! Come back next week and let me know. Again.

PAST TENSE is generally how fiction is written Pretender.

Good stories, keep this up guys...55s were always great but the 'other side of the coin' takes make them even better.
And mushy, wimpy stuff is okay as long as not overdone - which is not possible in 55 words. So I'm not cribbing.

blr bytes said...

Deep, thank you kindly...

holy hell. your blog is beginning to resemble my work life, with random people causing random mayhem, randomly.

55 is rocking. keep it up...
